Mouse Driver for Windows 3.0
A. Driver Files
There are 2 drivers for Mouse Systems Mice and Windows 3.0:
3BC2WIN3.DRV - driver for 3-button protocol mouse on COM2.
GNRWIN3.DRV - driver for 2-button AND 3-button protocol mice
(or PC Trackball) on COM ports OR bus card.
B. Installation
To install the above drivers,
1. change directory to your "Windows" directory and type
SETUP <ENTER>
2. use UP cursor key to select "Mouse:" on the 1st SETUP screen
and press <ENTER>
3. use DOWN cursor key to select "Other" on the 2nd SETUP screen
and press <ENTER>
4. SETUP will now display the default drive and directory where
Windows mouse driver(s) can be found. If you have copied the
drivers to your hard disk, type the drive and directory where
you copied the drivers and press <ENTER>. If the driver files
are on a floppy disk, insert it to driver A: and press <ENTER>.
5. SETUP displays the description of the 2 drivers:
Mouse Systems, GENERAL VERSION, Windows 3.0
Mouse Systems 3 Button Mouse on COM2, Windows 3.0
use the cursor keys to select one of the Windows 3.0 drivers
and press <ENTER>.
6. select "Complete Changes:" and press <ENTER>.
SETUP will copy the driver file and modify your SYSTEM.INI file
automatically.
VMD.386 (Virtual Mouse Driver)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This document is in reference to the file titled "VMD.386".
VMD.386 supports the Mouse Systems Windows bus mouse driver when operating
Microsoft Windows 3.0 in the 386 Enhanced mode.
INSTALLATION:
1. install the Mouse Systems Windows 3 bus mouse drivers as
detailed in the WINDOWS3.DOC accompanying this document.
2. copy VMD.386 into the Windows subdirectory--this is the
directory which includes WIN.COM.
3. start Windows and select the Notepad from the Accessories
group.
4. load the SYSTEM.INI file into the Notepad.
5. scroll down until you encounter the heading "[386Enh]".
6. in the [386Enh] category, you will find "mouse=" statement.
7. edit this statement to read:
mouse=vmd.386
8. save the SYSTEM.INI, exit Windows then restart Windows.
Your Mouse Systems mouse will be fully compliant with the
386 Enhanced Mode of Windows.
